Hi,

Quick one this.. during the day I pretty much exclusively use my MBP for work, etc. My iPhone is sat face up on the desk.

When I'm on the MBP I get all my notifications through that - e.g. Teams messages, new email notifications, etc. My iPhone is just sat there, screen off. If I get a phone call it'll wake up as I expect, or if I walk away from my MBP I'll start getting the notifications I would get on my MBP on my iPhone instead. This is perfect really.

Since getting an iPad, which is sat on the desk next to me, open (I have a Magic Keyboard so its propped open) every time I get a Teams message - for example - the screen will wake up, play a sound, etc to show me the notification (not the contents, as it's locked). I don't lknow why it's doing that when I'm using my MBP and my iPhone - which would send the same notifications if I was away from my desk, but doesn't when I am - sits there quietly.

I'm logged into the same Apple ID on all 3 devices. I feel like the iPad doesn't "know" that I'm using the MBP that is right next to it, if that makes sense.

The only info I've been able to find out only is about customising the notifications on a given device, or Focus modes, etc, which seem like a red herring when my iPhone is behaving perfectly.

Thanks in advance for any help provided smile

There is a handoff setting that may for some reason affect the behaviour, check that is enabled on the mac to allow handoff to icloud devices.

I've never really thought about it but I have all three devices as well and my iPad will notify me if the case is open but won't if the case is closed. It may be that it thinks the device is active based on the magnets for the case not being closed.

Thanks. Handoff appears to be working, I can move my mouse between my Mac and the iPad when the screen is on, for example.

It's irritating because both my phone screen and iPad screen are visible, in the sense nothing is covering them, but it's only the iPad that is replicating notifications unnecessarily. I could spend hours on my MBP and my iPhone screen wouldn't come on at all, but as soon as I pick it up and walk away from my MBP it knows that this is where I should start receiving notifications. It's seamless.

I want to be able to jump on the iPad on my desk and/or use it as a second screen for my MBP when I'm out and about, but don't want it duplicating notifications redundantly.
