Google Maps is stuck in one location
Discussion
Ive had a Chromebook for a few years, taken it places, the Your Location option has always worked ok when staying in different places. Recently went to Devon and now Ive come back and using Google Maps back in London it constantly thinks Im still in Devon.
Tried clearing cache. Checked privacy settings for Google to allow location. Im really stumped. Nothing I search online for can come up with anything different other than clearing cache or messing with location settings which Ive already tried...

Chromebooks don't have a GPS chip or anything else to determine location.
They can only do so by accessing what's listed as the location of the public IP they connect out to the internet over.
It sounds as if your public IP or that of your internet provider is somehow located in Devon.
Check your IP, the public address listed for the IP, and then repeat those 2 IP checks on another device connected to the same WiFi network.
If you're using a VPN then turn it off, obviously.

Yes its really odd. From what I read it uses the wifi connection to determine location...it used to work fine, when I was at home on my wifi in London it used to know I was in London. But I took it to devon, hooked it up to the wifi there, all worked fine, came back to london and it is still thinking I am in Devon even though Im back on my normal wifi in London. It locates me exactly where I was in Devon. It doesnt seem to want to recognise the wifi back here. They can only do so by accessing what's listed as the location of the public IP they connect out to the internet over.

I'd have to look at it and root around, but there used to be a default 'navigate from' setting which stored a default start location for all navigation maps. It sounds similar. It's been a long time since I saw it, but I'll root around in the coming days if/when I get time to sit at a computer.
