I think I saw a reference to this but I might have dreamt it to support my own prejudices. On my iphone and ipad the word suggestions etc when typing do seem more st than usual lately. Am I imagining it? Also grammar wise with respect to he suggested words - they make less sense eg typing “I’m going to catch my br…” it suggests “brain” & brother. Ie it’s putting up very unlikely words (that might not be a great example but there are others like it)

I agree with you, there do appear to be more and more issues with the auto correct.

I have seen others mentioning this issue as well.

It’s weird, I’ve really noticed the main item of annoyance to me is the poor suggested word when you’ve partly typed a word. Eg see my pic I wrote ‘typ” the suggested word should obviously be typed but it isn’t there, instead it has “thought”? Mental

Yes. I don’t know what they’ve done but it’s atrocious now. It keeps trying to substitute names it’s obviously mined from my contacts And other messaging apps. Then it throws in random capitalisations, and most of the time it forgets the lowercase word ‘and’, replacing it with And, Andy or ABC’s or other random nonsense.

I reset the autocorrect dictionary but it keeps doing it. censoredcensoredcensored

I typed this on my iPhone and needed to make at least a dozen corrections before it was even vaguely right.

It's not mental at all. If you look at the letters Y and P on the keyboard, you'll find H and O in close proximity. Because some people's typing fingers are less accurate or just fatter and therefore less precise, the predictive algorithm is suggesting what you may have intended to type. It does this by matching words that could realistically come after what you've just typed that also match the rough positions of the keys on the virtual keyboard. "You've partly thought" is not such a ridiculous suggestion when seen in that light.

Glad it's not just me - I use the Swype function on the keyboard (forget its real name) and I'm having to go back and change a lot more words than I used to; correcting random capitalisations, having to re-type words because it guessed the second one wrong and deletes both when I delete the second word, forgetting words it used to know, etc. I put it down to me just being lazy and not as accurate as I used to be!
