Anybody on 02?
Discussion
Is anybody on 02 having the same problems as I am?
No signal at all at home.
Very poor signal at work.
Extremely slow data even when the phone indicates I have signal (doesn't even get signal often).
Starting to get really fed up and am considering cancelling the contract as my phone only works when wi-fi is available.

yes, my o2 signal seems to have zero correlation to the speed/ performance using data!! and getting close to changing network!
basically anywhere I go that may be busy/ congested/ popular, my data speeds become terrible.
I know football/ concerts are bad for mobile signals, however in recent times i’ve been at gig in the hydro/ football at hampden (glasgow) and showing decent signal strength (4G signal few bars strength) and messages don’t go, whatsapp does a lot of trying and forget social media (instagram)…… yet at the football for example- I’ve had people on video calls to friends/ watching highlights of goals etc…. at half time sat right next to me on EE network!
getting very frustrating, but I’ve stuck with o2 because I like the o2 priority for early gig ticket access, but close to sacking it off

It's so frustrating, everyone I know is on EE and has no trouble.basically anywhere I go that may be busy/ congested/ popular, my data speeds become terrible.

My previous contract was with EE and it was great. Starting to think it worth the extra monthly cost.
Its the same old chestnut as when I was with Virgin Media Broadband. Superb, reliable service. Got brought out by Liberty Global. Then there was a massive push to add new subscribers without upgrading the infrastructure. Service went to pot.
I heard Liberty Global was going to take a 50% stake in O2 and knew it was a matter of time. Contract costs tumbled, O2 became the fastest growing network in terms of adding new subscribers. Doubt they built the infrastructure first because the service went to pot in about 18m. I could see it faltering after about a year and it kept declining.
So I switched to EE, paying about double. Its like O2 in the old days. Solid reliable service everywhere. I suppose it might depend on where you live, but in and around London, EE wins hands down. My phone is on 5g 90% of the time and it always has data. Was prob 30% of the time on O2, even then the data was patchy and unreliable.

O2 are in the process of absorbing all the Virgin Mobile users so yes their network can no longer cope. It's been very noticeable over the last year that the service has got worse. They are still adequate for my needs so I'm sticking with them mostly for the roaming benefits but if that goes then so will I.
Left O2 a couple of month ago after nearly 20 years with them. Data had gone down really badly for me living in the SE. I was told that things got bad for O2 after they merged with Virgin and took on all the Virgin customers. I am now with EE and at home have gone from averaging 6 Mbps with O2 to over 100. Their coverage was abysmal for me for years - East Croydon station was a classic example; five bars of 4G coverage and couldn't even get 2 Mbps, totally over-subscribed.
I left O2 years ago, I found they had reasonable coverage for calls but travelling all over the country working they never seemed to have suitable data.
I moved to EE and haven't changed since, the recent price changes and how expensive they are is making me look at Vodafone who are the fastest in the area I live at the moment.

been with them for 15 years, rarely any issues but I live in London so maybe not a like for like
The only thing I find is when the speed drops below 4G
4G - normal
3G - crawling
anything below 3G - doesn't work
Which makes a mockery of the speeds as how on earth were people using iPhones before 4G...and indeed before 3G

I was moved from virgin to 02, terrible drop in reception. South Wales.
I used to get a reasonable signal around the house thats gone, lucky if I get a signal at all some days and I get cut off in the room it used to be the best in.
Outdoors not to bad, but then I rarely use my phone outdoors unless I'm away then I don't expect a brilliant signal as I'm usually in some remote field camping.

I'm with o2, and my signal is always fine, not incredible, but I'd say better than Vodafone which I was on before. I do however very rarely actually find it connected to 5G, despite York being pretty much completely covered according to their coverage checker. I don't find a massive difference in speed between 4G and 5G anyway though.

From my experience travelling around the country...
Thought it would be good, it isn't. Too lazy to change but I will get round to it at some point- Three. Cheapest, but crap signal
- EE. Most expensive, but best signal
- Vodafone. Pretty expensive, pretty good signal
- O2. Pretty expensive, pretty crap signal
