Anybody use Amazon Household?
Discussion
G/f and I have separate Amazon accounts and it would make more sense to merge them and cancel mine. Which we tried to do this morning. However :
I have the full (unlimited) Amazon music which I don't want to lose. In the Household invite I got this morning, it states that if I cancel my prime membership I'll lose prime music because that's not a shareable benefit.
That seems to block us from merging the accounts. Maybe I can then get Amazon music as a non prime member, bit since it's more expensive to do that it hardly seems worth merging the accounts.
I can obviously call Amazon, but I expect that to be a painful experience so wondered if anybody else has been through similar.

Why doesn’t she join your account instead of the other way around?
My girlfriend and I both had prime. I ended up dropping mine and becoming the 2nd adult on hers. Only change I’ve had to make is reregistering all of the Echo devices on her account because of the music thing, otherwise any Echo on my account kept playing ads. I still use my account for purchasing and video.

The reason we were trying to merge is:
She doesn't pay for hers - it's covered by her vitality. Hence it doesn't make sense for her to join mine.
But I have digital content I've bought in the past (a few films which I could live with losing, but also Kindle books I'd prefer not to) - hence we wanted to merge under household rather than just add me to her account.
Maybe it will be simpler of I just add myself to hers and lose all my content, and then add music to her account.

Surely if you have paid for media it will always be available on your Amazon account. You don't have to surrender your whole account.
My Mrs has her own Amazon account, but it is associated with mine and she gets prime shipping etc No idea about prime video as the TV/echo speakers are logged in as me. But I think she can sign in if she wants to.
Cancel your prime subscription, then get added as the second adult on hers for the benefits? Unless because she has a free prime account through some other benefits program she isn't allowed to add others?

I assumed that if I cancel my subscription, I lose everything associated with the account.
No, just your prime benefits. That does make things simpler then. I'll get added to her account - guess my Kindle will need to register to her account, and we can add music.

Yeah, the only things you need to change the account on are those you want to play music on. It’s a bit of a shame but that’s the way it is.
That should actually be fairly painless. Most of my music is played on my phone - either in the cars or at work - so just need to change that to log into her account. We've been living together for a few months now, so my Amazon devices are all in moving boxes and will probably stay there.

i am pretty sure you dont need to log in as her.
you log in as yourself, it's just that she has listed you as the 2nd adult in the household so you get the benefits.
You do if you want the music benefit. I am an adult on my girlfriends account, but if I log in to any Echo devices with my account I get non-prime music which is full of adverts.you log in as yourself, it's just that she has listed you as the 2nd adult in the household so you get the benefits.
