I'm selling some stuff for my mates mum and the first item is a brand new iPad which was purchased last July I think.

Does anyone know if you have 60 days from purchase to register for AppleCare Plus or 60 days from when you first turn on and register the device with Apple ?

From the date you purchase the policy (or that's what it says on clause 3.2 of the Applecare+ T&Cs)

I think that's something else. I'm getting conflicting info about how long you actually have to apply for AppleCare after the purchase.

Some sites say you have 60 days from the purchase of the device to apply and some say you have 60 days from when you turn the device on and register it.

Some sites are then saying in some regions it may also be possible to register for AppleCare upto a year after purchase !

I've spoken to Apple twice and one person said yes that's correct and the other didn't so it looks like even Apple dont know what they are talking about.

From first use. They have no idea when it was purchased, shops do not submit to Apple every time they sell a product.

Nope, from purchase. You have to provide proof of purchase when you buy Plus

And with standard AppleCare it depends on the item and how long since manufactured.

If too long since manufacturer then they ask for proof of purchase and they will only allow it if you bought it from an authorised Apple reseller.

Hi guys to close the thread…

I have decided to buy it myself and then sell on my old 4th gen 12.9 Pro

Even though it was purchased last June as soon as it was setup I had the option to purchase AppleCare Plus which I did !

Happy days !

On the subject of AppleCare+ registration..

I bought a refurbished M1 MBP from the Apple store, which came with a 1 year warranty and I'm currently within the 60 days where I can buy AppleCare+. I've been leaving it til the last day because I know AppleCare+ starts from the day when you actually purchase it.

I want to do this, but when I click through I seem to be being given the options to either buy 3 years at £349 or 1 year at £129.99. I would like to be able to keep on paying for additional years of AppleCare+ when either the 1 or 3 year period I buy now ends. Can that be done with either option?

Thanks in advance smile
