How to tell what carrier a mifi is locked to

I have a netgear M5 and the imei number shows it's not blacklisted but I can't find out what carrier it's locked to.
Can anyone on here help with that, and maybe even help with unlocking it please?

It wasn't a Netgear MiFi device but I did buy a Huawei 4G one long time ago now as a stopgap solution and it was sold as sim-free but wasn't. I managed to get hold of a generic software for it (from https://www.xda-developers.com I think) and flashed it which removed all restrictions and made it a much better and more diverse device than it was in its former guise.

Worth a look maybe?
