Small business/home printer
Discussion
Hi,
I'm looking for a printer for a small business and home use. It's probably been 15 years since I bought a printer and there is so much choice!
I'm not a huge fan of HP that seem to charge per page printed, however I am open to all options. Colour printing is a must, and scanner/copier would likely be needed too.
I would hazard a guess that we will be printing 50-100 pages a month initially, maybe increasing more as the business grows.
Budget would be up to £200-£250, however could stretch further if price was justified e.g. low cost printing, longevity etc.
Thanks for any help.

The purchase cost of a laser is (almost) irrelevant compared to the running costs & these will be high if you cannot get third party non-OEM toner cartridges. Whatever you choose make sure that you're not restricted to the manufacturers toner which when I was looking meant mainly Brother printers.

Decide if you need duplex auto feed for the scanner as while all of them duplex print only the top end of the range does duplex scanning.

HP9020 here, again in use for three years. Printed thousands of sheets with very little issue, certainly no breakdown. Felt wrong paying monthly for ink, but has worked seamlessly with ink delivered through the letterbox in good time, before needed.
Family can print from phones and tablets by WiFi, anything really.
Scanner, ADF, fax if needed and duplex, two sided printing with two paper trays so, for instance, you can have photo paper loaded up as well as A4.
I wouldn't choose it for best quality photos, but most people would think they were acceptable, the ink just doesn't work as well as my ancient Epson in that regard.

I don't print often, but can never get away from having to print occasionally - I had a little HP laster jet which didn't actually survive much longer than its 1st toner replacement. It also had an issue if printing multiple pages, one or 2 would be fine, but more than that and it would hang if using wireless - that was driver related not the physical printer, but it behaved the same from either my laptop or desktop.
Got a Brother HL-2375DW - it's only mono, but they do similar that are colour - my what a difference ...
Toner cost is a little over 1/2 the price of HP (that's for branded) - apparently 3rd party are available and work ok.
Unusually for me, I had to print a 90 page doc, unlike the HP it sailed through it, using wireless.

Last week I ditched an old HP Laserjet Pro and got a Canon Megatank 7050 for ~£280 (other cheaper models are available...)
The 2-line, non-illuminated display is rubbish, but everything else about it is great. Fast, good quality printing.
Running costs should be trivial - it's easy to fill with ink, and replacement ink is dirt cheap.

Thanks for the comments everyone.
Currently leaning toward this: https://www.currys.co.uk/products/brother-hll3230c...
It seems Brother allow third party toners. Any thoughts on this or any other Brother printers around the same price?
