Wifi Dropping Out
Discussion
Bit of an odd one here. We have Gigafast broadband from Vodafone. Inside there is the standard Vodafone router and two Deco M5 mesh nodes.
In the last few days some devices are constantly dropping Wifi connection and then struggling to re connect. My daughter cant her laptop to connect at all in her bedroom, which is 2m away from one of M5s. My phone drops out when I move rooms. Stuff that stays still, like my work laptop, Alexas, smart plugs etc all seem to be fine. Stuff on Ethernet is also fine.
Nothing has changed, this setup has been in for over two years with no problems. I ran the network optimising function in the Deco app and that says everything is fine and there is no interference. Same problem on both 2.4ghz and 5ghz frequencies,
Any ideas? Of course I have already tried the old turn off and on again.

Hi I genuinely donty know if your router shares the same wifi name on both frequencies ?
Without going into too much detail
Mine on my BT Smart Hub 2 does (or did) I noted that my smart speakers were taking a few seconds to reply similarly daughters phone did similar.
When I split the frequencies and disconnected the 2.4GHz one the problem vanished.
I had to do it that way as on the SH2 you cant have seem to have the 2 frequencies with different names.
You may be able to give the frequencies different names

Thanks all. I rebooted everything and deleted the WiFi from my phone. Brought everything back online and added WiFi back. Walked round a bit to places it was dropping and so far it seems ok. Will get my daughter to try her laptop when she emerges.
There are a lot of devices on the network. There are 4 of us and we all have phone, tablet, laptop, then smart switches everywhere, TVs, AV Amp all connected, even the dishwasher. But nothing new in the last week.

Similar problem here, one of the phones in the house just stopped connecting after working fine for 4 months, just seemed to loop between connecting and saved. Tried everything I could think of and also all suggestions from Nokia support including factory reset. Assumed it was a faulty phone so got it replaced, same issue with the new Nokia (different model). All other devices in the house are ok.
Might have a look at turning one of the frequencies off on the WiFi as suggested, if that doesn't work not sure what else to do?

Your probably having a channel hopping race. One device decides another channel is less congested and hops to it, which then can cause all the other systems in the area hopping too.
Are there lots of other wifi transmitters nearby from neighbours ?
You can get an App on your phone to see whats about and what channels they are on. You can set your deco's to a fixed channel to stop the hopping which might help a bit.
Either that or you have some non wifi interference.
