I'm managing a list of volunteers for an event. I want to collect thier details (name, number, e-mail, etc) and then we'll assign them tasks and I want to then put out a list of names with additional info like role, time, location, etc, but not share everyone's contact details, and I'd rather not have to collate everyone's details from a hundred different e-mails.

Best way I can think of is Google Forms to let people fill in thier own details, but can it then populate a google sheet that would just show names so people can see they've already filled it in and are on the list?

Looks like I can then use Google Sheets as a data source for power query to do the rest of what I need to with the data in Excel, but can I then spit data out of excel/power tools to google sheets so people can see a read only sheet with the additional info?

Alternatively are there better tools for doing this?

You can do the entire job in G Sheets, no need for faffing about with exports to Excel etc

Set a master sheet where all the form data is collated.

And from that sheet you can selectively import into another sheet to lay the data out how you want/hide rows/columns in a view only sheet etc

If you're comfortable with Excel (it sounds as if you are) then G Sheets is very similar. You'll figure out in minutes.

Yep everything you want to do can be done withing G Sheets and/or Forms.

They only thing I'd caution is considering any obligations for data protection/privacy under GDPR. Some of the data you are planning on collecting would definitely be defined as personal data for the purpose of the regulations.
