Hi. Any help appreciated, I recognise I may be asking a really basic question here, but I’m pretty unfamiliar with PlayStations and how they work. My youngest has replaced his PS4 with a PS5, and I was planning on putting the PS4 into a furnished holiday let for our guests to use. However, obviously I don’t want anyone to be able to buy anything at our cost, play online using our profiles, change any settings in the overall account that will impact the PS5 at home , or otherwise get access to settings / data which would be unhelpful. Basically I just want to be able to put it into the property with some games on it, so that people can access the games, and if they wish to log onto their own PS network accounts etc.

Firstly is this possible? Secondly what settings etc do I need to check / set up to make this work? (I’m assuming I need to delete all our profiles on the machine and add a new one for guests to use)?

Is it possible, yes. Is it going to be a major hassle, also yes.

Anyone using it will likely sign in to their own account which will need removing each time the tenancy changes for a start. You’ll need to be including games which will get beaten and damaged. Controllers being wireless will need to be recharged too.

The console, games and controllers are all very mobile and steal-able too.

Personally I wouldn’t dream of this as it’s just an extra headache for what is barely a standout feature.

They don’t NEED an account for a PS4 unless they wish to play online games.

Before we bought our own place in Florida we used to rent somewhere that had a PS2 (and then a 3) for guests in the converted garage/games area.

It was a rainy day contingency and you just logged in the house account and it wasn’t connected to the internet.

Just supply basic cheap used child friendly campaign only games that don’t support online multiplayer gaming. There are hundreds that fit the bill.

Only the people with an existing PlayStation network account (so nobody with an Xbox console at home) will log in and if they want to online play, they will have to bring their own games with them.
