iPhone 15 Thread
Discussion
Now only around 7 months till the 15 anyone planning on purchasing or upgrading ?
I hardly use my 13 Pro Max as a phone it's become my main camera and mobile media device it's a great bit of kit the only downside for me is the lack of a decent optical zoom.
It now looks like the 15 will have the increased zoom but by how much I wonder ?
Will Apple try its usual milking tactics by introducing a 6x zoom with the 15 and a 10x later ?
Hopefully not or i'll have my 13 a bit longer.

I'm currently on a 13 Pro, I decided this time around to go for the smaller of the Pro models coming from a 12 Pro Max as I thought it would be better for carrying etc but to be honest I really regret it, I much preferred the larger screen, hopefully I can hold out and there will be a 15 Pro Max as upgrading from the 13 Pro to the 14 Pro Max isn't really worth the cost.
To be honest I would probably have kept my 12 Pro Max until this year but after using my wife's 13 Pro I couldn't get over how much smoother her screen was than mine.

I have a 12 Pro. In my head I expected to upgrade for a 15 as three years sounded about right. In truth it works as well as it did on day one and I can’t think of anything it doesn’t have so the 15 will have to be something pretty special. If it’s the same mediocrity as 13 and 14 then I won’t bother.
I’m on a Pro Max 12 having upgraded pretty regularly over last 10 years. I have reached a point where it’s too much. Not really about affordability for me, but the new phones now bring very little to the table, beyond better cameras and opening apps quicker. I have noticed a pattern (scam) where there are limited numbers of last years model, so you have no option but to buy the newer model. In the unlikely event of a price drop I would consider a 15.

Had a 14 for a while, now on S23 Ultra, S23U is far superior
Troll.Nothing to do with this thread.
Seen the reviews on the S23U and the zoom is great especially for those like me where the camera is the primary use. I will be bloody annoyed if it is only 6x on the 15 because there is absolutely no reason why it cant be 10x looking at the competition ....
Save me some money I suppose until the 16 if it is.
My 13 Pro Max was an upgrade for my vanilla 6 which I'm also still using along with an iPad 2 and iPad 4 and replaced my Sony RX100 IV Camera.
I'll probably keep my next phone with a decent optical zoom for a fair few years.

That's a bit tin-foil hatty IMHO. There have major chip shortages for two years now, to the point where 18 months ago there was a severe shortage of iPads in the run up to Christmas, as components (there is a significant overlap of parts) were diverted into iPhones. It's neither surprising nor a scam that they would prioritise production of the latest models.C3ntaur2084 said:

Way to compare Apples with Bananas. Bottom of the range 14 and top of the range Samsung, great comparison.
I'm on a 12 pro and I haven't seen any real reason for my usage to update to anything later. However, the battery performance of my current 12 is noticeable now, not a problem but as I have noticed it, it's the signal to look for an upgrade at some point, so the 15 would be the likely target based upon this.
My 12 Pro Max is still ticking along nicely. Battery health says 91% and it's not an issue for me yet. I'm going to hold fire as it still works and does what I need it to.
The differences between devices (year-on-year) has become so incremental that there simply isn't the impetus to upgrade. Not to mention the cost of the so called "flagship" devices is now so high that it makes sense to sweat your current device for as long as possible.
