seems f2f meetings are a thing of the past even when you're only dealing with colleagues in the same building!

anyway, i have changed laptop, headset and office, so hard to tell which is the culprit but i've had nothing but complaints on teams calls of background noise. seems the mic is super sensitive so much that it picks up voices from across the room. i can be on a group call where someone else in the same room as me is ok, but mine is so loud i have to go on mute.

checked the settings, they're the same as my colleagues. can only assume its acoustics. hence looking for a better headset without spending too much cash. any recommendations? single or double eared i'm not that fussed, BT over usb if its not significantly more expensive.

We buy these, seem to be fine, nobody complains about background noise and people find them comfortable enough for meetings.

i have that exact logitech!

there are 2 of us that get complaints, from an office of 8. all settings exactly the same, with usb mic input, auto noise supression etc. changing headsets over does not move the problem. can't work it out.

Poly / Plantronics Blackwire 5220 are about £65 and work well. Jabra Evolve2 40 are a good alternative.

Just having a boom mic close to your mouth helps a lot but both of those have active cancellation too.

I was having a similar problem, turned out unknown to me the settings had somehow switched to using the headset for audio playback but the laptop microphone so of course it was picking up a lot of background noise. Changed these back and it was fine. Only noticed this in the Teams audio settings so perhaps worth double checking before spending any money?

Yes seems to default to the laptop mic.

Logged an IT support request, now no one can hear me at all yet I can hear myself from the boom mic. Second attempt in progress.

Fun, but not a hardware issue at least.

ETA: they cant fix it. no drivers available, changing headsets doesnt fix it. suggestion is to go buy a different brand with a driver. cheers IT.

Wow! That's sad! All customers I go to see couldn't wait to get back to f2f meetings, me included.

I got a pair of Jabra 65 evolve Bluetooth headphones and they're great. I have a radio playing directly in front of me and while in meetings I don't even need to turn it down, colleagues can't here it at all the noise cancelling works so we'll.

Additionally I can wander almost all over the house and still hear and be heard using the laptops built in bt but not the jabra dongle. So happy with it I bought the other half a pair when they where on offer at £50-£60.

Most meeting apps alow you to change both the speaker and mic separately this may be your issue if its defaulting to the laptops built in mic.
