Afternoon all

I have a 2016 MacBook Pro with a satechi USB C Hub two HDMI slots and two new HP Monitors running off it. When it works its great but the screens go black with the slightest interference from a mouse or whatever tapping against the hub or the monitors themselves, causing them to go black. Then its lid up to get the screens going again.

What could conceivably cause this?? the Mac is permanently plugged in, the Satechi is an Apple approved device.

Could it be the HDMI cable's themselves??

Its annoying so any suggestions are much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Does sound like a loose connection and the slight tap causing a problem. Maybe tape the leads to the hub and see if it stops or get some different leads to rule out the connectors on the ones you have being at fault?

Do you have any other devices connected to the same monitors? I sometimes see my Mac-connected monitor briefly go dark if my PC, also connected, decides to wake up

Any chance you're pushing the limits for the resolution that is supported with 1 UB C port to two HDMI screens and would get better stability by splitting them up?

Morning

Thanks all for the input. I had the Mac on a stand, so i dropped the legs down to desk level. This appears to have solved the issue. so i think it was the connection itself.

Thanks again!!
