Its a few years old, but recently have noticed when watching films, that the background musis is getting louder and we are having trouble listening to the dialogue

questions

Is it the TV

If so is there a way that the sound can be adjusted...less backgound..more dialogue Or perahps wpuld a soundbar cure the problem, and any suggestions

Is is Virgin TV and if so can they do anything

It is really frustrating, so much so that in some cases we have to put on sub titles!!!

Not a new thing but ours was always terrible at dialogue. Got a Sonos Beam and that transformed it.

You need a 5.1 sound system smile
I usually have the centre speaker set at around +6db to get around this problem.

Bravia's from years ago used to have a 'virtual surround' setting in the sound menu I think it was called. This magnified the problem you are having. Not sure if they still have it.

Also check if your source (Virgin TV box?) is sending surround signals. If you don't have a surround system, it won't sound right if the TV box is sending the wrong signals. May be something that easy to set inadvertently.

Mine is a year old and I have just started noticing the same thing, forever turning the volume up and down. Very useful timing OP!
