What's my laptop (not) doing

New windows laptop, brave browser (tried edge too)

Basically with certain "secure" sites it won't process something - with banking a dialog box wouldn't open, with Westminster a parking payment kept failing, both processes worked fine on tablet. Some setting I suspect?

Did it come with any pre-installed anti-virus software? Try disabling that if it did.

Indeed.

There's no need for any 3rd party antivirus software these days because MS does a good a job as any, and no need to pay either.

Check the clock and time zone are correct.

Some sites, very occasionally use some weird pop-up which Brave will block. Check for this in the address bar:


Click it while on the site and try turning 'Shields Up' off and see if that fixes it.

Check in Brave if you're getting a little icon appear in/next to your address bar. I had the same issue with a site at work and it was blocking a popup window, which wasn't actually a pop up window but was embedded into the page. It was so subtle a notification I didn't notice it for quite a while and thought the page was just not working in Brave,

Thanks, antivirus was uninstalled the first time I turned it on, windows security is on, "app and browser control" is tuned off, will firewall or virus and threat protection affect webpages?

Tried disabling shield too but still funny.
