Hi, anyone got an Apple watch on O2 ?

I upgraded from an Apple watch 4 GPS to a 6 Cellular so I could go out running/cycling/gym without my phone but its never really worked. Phone is a 14 Pro, everything up to date and paying for an add on for the watch which is a fiver a month. Tried all sorts, getting through to O2 is night on impossible as they have "problems with their systems" and they warn you you can be waiting for an hour ffs, utter crap, pay them £30 a month for this rubbish service.

Seems to be an issue on O2 specifically, can make calls fine but no data, just saying "Loading" or "No Connection". spent all that money on the watch and £5 a month for over a year, it just doesnt work.

Did get though to cancel it and the chap suggested trying it without Bluetooth on the watch, I pointed out that Bluetooth is fairly essential as otherwise the headpones dont work.

Any other networks that support Apple Watches properly ?

I have mine on EE as do others I know and they work really well.

O2 should work just as well if you have enough signal, what do you have under Settings > Mobile Service? Are both options for mobile service and mobile data enabled? Are all the apps enabled to use the mobile data?

Mobile Service and Mobile Data are both enabled.

Plan Says O2

Status says no connection.

Apps all enabled

I rang to get a Pak code and the guy convinced me to try their tech team, waited 30 mins and then had to break off for a work call.

Soul destroying trying to get through to these companies, they pare everything back, offshore it and then wonder why it goes tits up.

Most people just buy on price alone so it’s not that surprising.

I think at nearly thirty quid a month I should be able to get some support.

It isn't the customers that are the problem, its the companies trying to rinse every last penny out of it.

Its a commodity, they are all competing, there are cheaper deals like Tesco, GiffGaff etc but O2, sim only I feel I pay enough to get my service to work and someone to answer the phone when it doesnt.

Seems to be an endemic issue with Apple Watches on O2, so will ring back and get my Pak code, and move to EE.

It is the customers who are the issue though. It isn’t all customers, as your case proves, but enough customers causing a race to the bottom - although it arguably harms you more than most as someone who chose a product based on factors other than price but then naturally get the cut price service others have contributed to.

It’s just how things are in so many industries where costs need to be cut to try and compete with each other. Things like call centres are easier to cut costs on than other areas as customers only notice once they try and contact them, which a lot of people will never do.

I definitely empathise with your frustration, I had similar with Virgin Media a few years back, but company behaviour is typically customer behaviour led at some level.

From memory when I did need EE once years ago they were pretty good, can’t comment on their watch provision though.

Hope you get it all sorted smile

On to them now, they are utterly useless.

https://community.o2.co.uk/t5/Apple/Apple-Watch-Ce...

They put their prices up by a chunky amount last year, was like £3, so if they cant make money, maybe its not viable ?

I cant even get a PAK code " Ah no this is sales", despite asking on the automated thing for a PAK code, then it rejected my security question three times, which let me in on the earlier call, then they tell you of an hour wait, and their systems problems, I dont give a st about their systems, its "Can you provide a service for £30 a month or not ?"

I have been debating whether it is worth adding my watch to the o2 plan. Debating as I am rarely without my phone so seems a bit pointless. So interested if you get it sorted. From O2's website:

-=-=
To check if your new Airtime Plan is active, open the Watch app on your iPhone and tap on ‘Mobile Data’. In the ‘Data Plan’ section, if you see O2 with the word ‘activating’ then you’ll have to wait a little longer for set up to complete. If you see O2 with an orange ‘i’ next to it, then you’re all set up.
-=-=

Is that the case?

I had this very issue back in August-September last year.

Tried everything where Apple, me and O2 were in a three-way discussion to iron out the problem. Tried enrolling my wife's Apple Watch on to O2, which also encountered the same issues, so it was concluded it was an O2 problem.

O2 tech support eventually gave up on me and stopped returning calls when promised they would. I eventually requested my PAC code to leave and am now back with EE, where the Apple Watch works flawlessly on cellular.

Just says Mobile plan O2.

The watch says either "Loading" or "No Connection", its never worked from what I remember on mobile data.

Whole Idea was to remove the need to take my phone into the gym or on a run.

Woudl use the wifi in the gym but thats crap, hit and miss on the phone, doesnt work on it very well, suspect its too contended, doesnt even show up as an option on the watch, didnt on the Apple Watch 3 I had earlier.

Think will ring again and insist on pak code, lost confidence in them. Only moved from GiffGaff as it doesnt support Apple Watch, but then thats O2 anyway.

Yeah, seems to be a common issue, glad you got sorted.

I rang for my PAC code, you ask the automated system when it asks for what you want "GET PAC CODE", it confirms and you say yes, then, eventually when you get through you ask the human and they say "This is sales, we cant give out PAC codes", its a shambles !

I vented at the person I spoke to, they send send PAC to 65075 and you will get a code back, nothing yet, not holding out any hope.

Hope the PAC code comes through for you in a timely manner. I believe networks have to act upon a PAC code request and can't deny you of it. You then have 30 days to use it. Might also be worth telling O2 to cancel your watch plan ahead of time, as that's on its own 30 day rolling agreement.

It's a shame as the Apple Watch used to work for me on O2 and then suddenly stopped working.

I'm also a Virgin Media broadband customer, so I received double mobile data and double fixed line speed for simply being a customer of both.

I switched for plusnet (ee) to O2 and regret the decision. Terrible coverage for what’s meant to be 5G

Apparently the text method doesnt work if you have an Apple watch, so went through the menus, its buried as an option,

1. Log into your MyO2. MyO2 sign in
2. Select the number you want to get the PAC code for.
3. Go to "More" in the nav bar at the top of the page, a drop down menu will appear.
4. Click update your personal details
5. At the bottom of this page is a "Thinking of switching from o2" section
6. Press continue on this section and follow the next steps, (may have to turn off your ad blocker). and you should get your PAC code if you have multiple devices through my o2.

But, says I owe them £81.96 as an early termination fee, so going to have to ring them, so more time on hold and being told "You have come through to sales".

So, it doesnt work, and I have to pay £81.96 to get out of it !

Not having that.

I have an Apple Watch on O2,

no problems, swopped to a new watch a couple of weeks ago. the sim change took an hour at most.

Cannot fault them

Is your watch a GPS or Cellular plus GPS model ?

Similar issues with O2 when I first got a cellular Apple Watch and signed up for the esim for it - it connected but would never actually receive emails or be able to stream music, etc.

After eventually being passed through to the real technical people at O2 they admitted that despite what their fantasy coverage checker said, their network just awful in my local area - a combination of poor service in some areas and overloaded backhaul where there was service.

Swapped to EE and it’s been fine since.

Er, by some miracle, not sure what has changed, for the first time my watch has "connected" against its status.

Not sure what has changed, will see how it gets on.

Did put a post on the O2 website.
