banned on facebook

I got an email yesterday saying it looks like someone has accessed your facebook account then 2 mins later an email saying my account has been suspended

when I login it appears that I've been banned for posting 8 photos supporting terrorism???

the only appeal I can make is by the form of clicking a button to disagree with the decision, if it's unsucessful then the account is permently banned

having read a bit about this online others are saying it's happened to them and fb will just review the image without the context of the account being comprimised and close the account

it's absolutely insane, they've also banned my instagram, deliveroo, some other music sites etc etc as I all used facebook to login with them

wish I had 2 factor auth turned on now, I'm also baffled as to how they got my password - the email itself wasn't used for anything other than fb too?

Change password immediately and make it strong - mix of upper, lower case, numbers and a symbol and 12+ characters long. Add two factor.

won't let me, all I can do when logged in is look at a screen saying I am banned and I have to wait to see the outcome of my appeal

looking around the internet lots of people have had this and it seems it's 100% certain i'll get banned permanently, on IG too with no direct way of appealing

I had something similar.

I tried appealing and got messages saying an appeal had been lodged.

Then after several weeks, I got a message saying I had left it too long before appealing and my account was permanently suspended.

You can't talk to anyone at Facebook.

Start again.

I knew there was a good reason I don't use Facebook to login to anything else (aside from possibly Instagram?).

update: they restored both my fb and ig accounts but gave me a 3 day ban on fb where I can't write anything

I got to see what the hackers had posted and it was 9 images of people waving ISIS flags, I was lucky that they didn't post underage photos or something horrific like that

I've enabled 2 factor auth on absolutely everything now as it was a wakeup call

many people are unable to restore their accounts after this kind of thing happens (which I was expecting) so I was very lucky!

How utterly bizarre, I had the exact thing happen to me Friday night at 12:30, I awoke to the same emails from Facebook. They emailed saying "Looks like someones accessed your account", then 2 minutes later, "You're banned". Someone from Alabama was posted Islamic state media on mine.

I had to upload a form of ID and within 8 hours my account was restored, I immediately turned on 2FA as well which I find odd isn't on as default!

What I can't figure out is how they got my password. I use Bitwaden which has 2FA on and the password was a randomly generated 14 digit long password. I haven't clicked any links in an email and I can't remember the last time I logged into Facebook.

My hack was some sort of explicit child porn. I reported it to Action Fraud and had a useful conversation with one of their staff who said it was rife and mostly originating from North Africa - but also that found communicating with these social media giants impossible.
