How often do you have to restart your laptop?
Discussion
On previous machines, I've tended to leave them to hibernate at the end of the day and never had any issues.
With my current one, however, I have to restart it at least every 48 hours, and often daily, or sound starts to break up really badly.
It's a pretty powerful machine (2.6GHz i7 processor, 16Gb of RAM and a separate dedicated graphics card) so most of the time I'm not getting anywhere close to using its full power, it always works fine after a restart and there are no updates pending.
Does anyone else have a machine that behaves like this? Any thoughts on how to sort it (given there are no obvious errors and reinstalling drivers does nothing), or is it just something I'll have to live with?

if it is only sound breaking up then I would be inclined to blame the sound driver. I would take the latest driver available for your OS from the OEM (laptop or soundcard).
It's not dissimilar to my Surface Pro 7 which was regularly BSODing on the camera (mostly), RMA to MS and refurb (with healthier battery ) did not really solve it, that was with ultra-clean Win11 (BSOD came less on Win10). I stopped letting Windows Update update the drivers and took the latest from Intel, BSODs are now seldom. Which is impressive given the lack of fan, regular CPU and the thing running for around 12-16 hours per day (I don't hibernate it on power so it sleeps if it is left for some time).

I do mine (work laptop) at least once a day, otherwise the daily security/group policy updates get stuck and start complaining in the notification area.
That is in addition to the normal end-of-day shutdown I do - as a shutdown & start-up will not trigger the updates in themselves...has to be a restart.
However, hibernate is completely disabled on our machines as it causes too many issues.

It'll be down to poor drivers or some kind of crapware that you've got installed. I would echo the wipe & reinstall Windows comments.
I've had Lenovo laptops of some ilk from work for the last 15 years and they've typically only ever been restarted when Windows asks to after an update. So maybe every couple of months or so?

Work laptop, Dell XPS 15, i7, 32gb RAM, 2060 GFX - whenever security policy pops up telling me to, usually once or twice a week.
Personal laptop, Lenovo Legion, Ryzen 7, 16gb ram, 3060 GFX - once a month maybe, hibernate works fine.
Sounds like a driver issue with yours, as someone else mentioned, try going to the manufacturers website and checking for updates.

Personal one - only when it needs updating, or has a problem (very rare).
Work one - shut it down every night, as they tend to get problems after a few days if not.
I thought this would be ok for our work Lenovo's too. However we are required to actually restart every 7 days irrespective of whether we shut it down properly each night or not. I do not understand why.Work one - shut it down every night, as they tend to get problems after a few days if not.
I used to be vaguely IT literate but out of the industry for 15+ years means I am just another boring oldie who can't use tech anymore.

I did some research and we were thinking of introducing such a policy at our place. My research into our estate showed that problems with Windows and / or apps tended to increase in frequency after approx 10 days. Enforcing a 7 day policy would have lessened calls to the service desk.I used to be vaguely IT literate but out of the industry for 15+ years means I am just another boring oldie who can't use tech anymore.
Win10 and Win11 - never.
However, if I am not going to use the laptop for a few days, I will turn it off, although I sometimes forget. I often forget.
Previously, I owned a good quality Dell, that started life as XP, moved on to 7 and then to various Linux distros. No problems, at least that I can remember, apart from the occasion blue screen, but no more than two or three times in years. Most recently a grandson was using it in the first days of Covid for school work. It was running Win10. I told him to contact me if he had any problems, but never called.
