For various reasons, it would be handy if I could use my Appl Lightning headphones with my work laptops. And so I bought some cheapie amazon lightning to USB-C adapters. I have two newish Dell Laptops here and neither will recognise the headphones. The headphones work in my iphone. There are 2 adaptors and same result on both.

Basically, I plug them in to a USB-C port and nothing at all happens. Nothing registers on Device manager. Google has failed me on this one too so I'm turning to the mighty knowledge of PH. Am I trying to do something impossible or have I just bought two duff adaptors?

Maybe company IT policy rejecting unknown devices rather a fault with the adpaters?

Cheers. They belong to me though so have my own IT policy (or total lack of IT policy).

Ah. Definitely sack the IT guy then (and therefore yourself). No work = no work laptop = no problem!

I thought some adapters were charging only (not audio) and some were audio only (not charging) ?

Mystery solved there, cheers. Looks like I bought the wrong adaptors. Bought in a rush and didn't read the small print. Seems mine do charging only.

Looks like I might need to sack the procurement department too smile

You just can't get the staff these days. I have the same issue - they just seem to spend the whole day browsing motoring forums.
