I'm doing a table top rally, plotting a route on OS maps using a variety of navigational methods.

To see the details on the maps clearly I'm enlarging them on screen but it would be useful to be able to mark the maps on a layer / overlay that I could flick on / off.

Is there a way to do this? I have Acrobat Reader and Acrobat X.

I normally create my layered files in Illustrator, Photoshop or InDesign and can then click them on/off in Acrobat.

However, you could import a new blank page/file as a new layer in Acrobat (the full version, not the reader) and then Edit that layer with your annotations.

Thanks, you put me on the right lines.

Photoshop CS2 (you can see I'm bang up to date with software) wouldn't open the PDFs ("not an Adobe Photoshop PDF file") but I saved each as a jpeg in Acrobat then opened them in PS and added a layer - problem solved. thumbup

Yes, the older versions need an older version of PDF format too - or one saved in compatibility mode.

I stay up to date with the versions (Adobe CC 2022 + 2023 installed in parallel) as my clients require it...and pay for it indirectly...but I do miss the simplicity/speed of some of the older versions.
