I can find very little about this, but The Post Office and Royal Mail have been closed to all international outgoing mail for over a week. It must be something serious to warrant a total shut down for that long, and seems to be almost completely lacking in publicity.
Does anyone know what is going on?

Not sure what news sources you use but it was all over the BBC News website. There was even a "breaking news" alert on the front page when it happened.

6 days ago: "Royal Mail tells people not to send post abroad due to 'cyber incident'" - https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-64231473

5 days ago: "Royal Mail: Overseas post still disrupted after 'cyber incident'" - https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-64249540

Might explain why a package I sent on December 20th is still at Heathrow airport then!? I could have hand delivered it into Holland by now haha.

Three weeks on, and the international service is still massively disrupted. That seems to be a pretty serious cyber attack.

It's pretty normal if you have to rebuild everything. Happens to quite a few companies with varying degrees of publicity.

During COVID some just blamed "supply chain issues and COVID" for blips in manufacturing...

They said that they had resumed international services as of Monday 30th.

Had important docs to send to Ireland, bought the postage online as instructed, £8.75, and dropped at local Post Office in London.

6 days later and it's made it to Milton Keynes??

FFS!

I should have daytripped to Dublin on Ryanair.

If they can't offer the service, why are they charging full price?

Not International, but this is how the Royal Mail describe Tracked 48:

"Aims to deliver in two to three working days"

So, up to 72 hours (whilst calling it 48) and even then it's only as aspiration that they might deliver it in that time.

They've been hit by ransomware that's encrypted everything is my guess.

Gonna take a while to sort that bugger out.

All The Royal Mail needs to do is send a parcel bomb to Moscow.

How would getting one to Milton Keynes in 6 days time help?

Dropped at Post office 7 days ago. Tracker says leaving the UK, that was Saturday morning, 3 days ago now.

No updates since!
