Basically, as thread title. Is it possible to link bluetooth headsets to use as a short range intercom? I am an operator on a large model railway layout and when trains are running it can be hard to hear the operator at the other end. It's bad enough in a garage, but will be a lot worse set up in an exhibition hall with hundreds of spectators milling around.

Any suggestions?

Just get a walkie talkie with a headphone jack, then plug in whatever headphones you like.

There are motorbike headsets which do pretty much just that.

Or use some walkie talkies as others have suggested.

Google 'motorcycle real time comms system'.
The problem with walkie talkies is that it's a simplex system, meaning only one person can talk (transmit) while the other listens and vice versa. If you want to be able to talk and listen at the same time (I.e no button pressing) then you need a duplex or 'real time' intercom system which bike comms gives you. Not particularly cheap though.

Connect bluetooth headsets to a phone and let the phones do the talking. Old-school I know!
