I have been with Plusnet for several years. No problems, it just seems expensive.

I pay £41.75 for unlimited fibe including line rental
plus £9.15 for Plusnet anytime
Total of £50.90 a month. Is that too much? Could I get it cheaper?

Is it a question of haggling with Plusnet? I am not technical, so, no long words, please.

Head over to a comparison site, see what providers are available in your area and then compare their prices for the same level of product.

Plus net may haggle a little, unlikely you’ll get much at the moment.

I'm in a similar position. Our introductory period has just come to an end with Virgin. There are 24 month introductory offers available that will lower mine and your bills, see an example below I might go for (unsure what exactly service you currently have regarding speed etc).

Sorry to hijack, but does anyone know if its possible to tell if there are any slots available in an exchange for FTTC? Previously when i lived in my last house I waited months and was then told it was full and nothing could be done. Do I just have to go with one of them and try?

I would like to stay with Plusnet, but I think I am paying too much money, so I would like to have another company's offer that I can use to negotiate with.

Perhaps BT?

I noticed a big jump in my PlusNet bill last month from £46 to £62!
Turns out that my contract ended last month. ( This includes a BT Sport TV subscription of £10)
I've been very happy with the service from PlusNet, which has been faultless, but I'm now looking elsewhere as PlusNet best deals are for new customers.
Favourite at present is BT, where I can get the same package for £32, rising to £42 after 6 months.
I haven't tried it yet, but you could try ringing PlusNet to see if they'll haggle

It seems that charges are going up by RPI + 3.5% in March - if I've got it right.

Should I wait until that has kicked in?

I'm with Plusnet and pay £21.50 for Unlimited Fibre inc. Line rental, which includes Evenings & Weekends
Plusnet anytime now costs £10.28

I extended my contract as upgrading to FTTP at the moment can mean losing my landline phone or jumping through hoops to be able to port the number to a VOIP provider. If Plusnet complies with Ofcom porting should be possible by April.

Plusnet emailed me to say that prices are going up at the end of March.

Quote

Here’s the detail of how much your price/s will increase:
• Unlimited Fibre Broadband: £2.67
• Line Rental: £3.34
• Plusnet Anytime call plan: £1.32
If you receive a discount on your price, it is taken into account when the percentage price increase is applied.
This is in line with the Consumer Price index (CPI) rate of inflation published in January this year, plus 3.9%.
Call charges will also be increasing by CPI plus 3.9%. For example, call charges to UK landlines (01, 02 and 03) will increase by CPI plus 3.9% from 17.15p per minute to 19.62p per minute. Call set up fees to UK landlines will increase from 26.3p to 30.09p.

So. Get some figures from BT and, say, Virgin, to throw at them? Are BT really awful, or not bad?
