Hi,
I'm on the lookout for a half decent printer for around the £100 mark, and I have NO idea what kind I should consider.

We're not one's to use it all that much, so would probably get taken out once every couple of weeks for the odd sheets (colour and black/white).

Any recommendations...

I replaced my cheap HP that I had for 14+ years with another cheap HP from John Lewis (about £49), it came with a 6 month subscription to ink so the second we set it up they sent us 2 more ink cartridges for it. I've since cancelled the ink subscription so we dont end up paying.

We don't use it much but the old one was playing up.

We went HP too, and signed up for their Instant Ink programme which keeps us in stock of ink and is pretty economical for our relatively light usage.

What a second hand colour laser from eBay?

If your don't need photo quality, removes all the issues of intermittently used inkjet blocking heads etc.

Isn't it a monthly payment though? I worked out for our usage it was cheaper to just buy them as an when we needed them rather than paying £10 a month (dunno if it was £10 a month just made that up)

This is likley to be one of those annoying posts but for your use profile I'd suggest a laser as an inkjet is likley to simply clog up if only used once every two weeks. Look for a laser with non-OEM toner availble as this will greatly reduce the running costs.

Yes it is a monthly payment (though?) I guess I could save a few quid if I bought it myself but it's economical and convenient to get HP to send replacements as necessary which is why I explained our choice in those terms.

The HP ENVY 6032e seems to get good review. Anyone have any experience with this model?

Ours is an older 5-generation but perfectly competent with everything we've asked of it, including photos on photo paper.

I've got the older version of this:

https://www.currys.co.uk/products/epson-expression...

Works well, choice of quality and prints what I want
Downside is that mine is fussy with thick photo paper (it won't have it), and windows is a pita and keeps losing its ability to connect so have to keep reinstalling drivers. This may have been resolved in the newer versions though as mine is maybe 5 years old now. Phones work fine and connect to it reliably and wirelessly to print photos and docs.
