Dear all
I am considering buying one of the 2 in 1 's referred to in the title.

I'm particualrly interesed in the following model : ASUS ZenBook Flip OLED UX363EA 13.3" Intel EVO Convertible Laptop (Intel i5-1135G7, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD, Backlit Keyboard, Windows 11) Includes Stylus, USB-C to Audio Jack, Pine Grey, UX363EA-HP924W

I don't really want to spend more and find the Oled screen and 16 gig ram, very appealing.

Key uses will be video streaming to a smart tV and internet banking. looking at Avast maybe for security. Currently my interenet banking is across 3 devices, plus I am locked out of a couple of accounts owing to "updates". Makes sense to put them all on one device, which will not be going off the property . The only downside I can see is Win 11 (I'd prefer 10 ) but thats life.

So, has anyonme any experiences/ perceptions of the Zenbook Flip in general , or, even, if I'm very lucky the specific model I list above?

Many Thanks. new year coming :-)

I bought my son one for his 6th form in September and he really likes it. Don't know if he uses the pen much but we bought a Dell thunderbolt dock from CEX for it in his study to connect to a big screen and kb/m.

Can't help with that specific machine, but these points may be of use:

I have an HP 2-in-1 and I used it once in tablet mode in three years. It's an ultrabook (EliteBook) but it's just too heavy and unwieldy to use like that. Tried it to see what it was like then wished I hadn't paid the extra! The touchscreen is very useful, though, and the lack of that is what's stopping me moving to a MacBook Pro at the moment.

The younger Miss van Guy has an Asus ultrabook (UX434 from memory?. It has a touchscreen and the trackpad also acts as a second screen. (I think it's called ScreenPad 2) We got it for her university work and the ScreenPad has been very useful. It's not a 2-in-1 but it's small, sleek and powerful. She loves it.

That type of machine may be worth a look, but if you do go for the convertible, I'd recommend seeing if you can get hands on with one to see if it suits and how wieldy it is. If not, maybe save a bit, but go for a touchscreen for sure.

Hope that helps.

Thanks all for the input. Weight is not really a prob for me, the machine is unlikely to stray far from my sofa, and does seem pretty light after all from the spec write up.

Getting one in hand, so to speak is something I'd like to do. Problem for me is that locally, there is nobody who comes to mind who actually stocks the brands. I had a look in Currys, nothing, and Peterborough branch of John Lewis has closed, meaning the nearest branch is Cambridge, which is a right royal pain.

Such is life it seems.

I was unanware of the Lenovo, but seems to rule itself out as does not seem to have an HDMI port, which is essential in this case

Thanks again all.

Most current laptops might not have a dedicated HDMI but most will have USB-C ports that are Thunderbolt compatible so you can just get a USB-C to HDMI adaptor for a few quid from Amazon.

Not an issue, you can install Windows 10 on a Windows 11 machine as a clean install if you don't like it.
