(I’m a regular domestic user) right I’m fed up with the utter st that is shell broadband (who took over post office broadband). But I’ve previously had plusnet and others I’ve forgotten and they’re all st it seems

So I don’t upload much but eg tonight uploading a 12 min video and it’s taking something like 3 hours. Ran a speed test and download speed 15.6 Mbps and upload speed 0.34 Mbps fking s

Do any normal ISPs have something not quite so offensive? I’m in London so lots of choice I think.

Depends on your speed. Never heard of Shell or Post Office Broadband.

Especially living in London you will have a huge choice and I suspect FTTP available in most cases.

https://www.broadband.co.uk/checker/

Go to the link above. Fill in the details. See what options are around.

I have 80/20 at home and it's perfectly fast enough and uploads anything I need and enough for me and the Wife to both stream 4K together with no lag.

You can get more, it's just willy waving at that point unless you have a specific requirement!

Make sure you're using a decent socket and cable going into the router.
My adsl is marginal due to distance and with the cable that was supplied with the router I was getting 2mb upload but replacing the socket and getting a twisted pair rj11 cable boosted my upload four fold to 8mb.

It sounds like there could be a fault on your line etc, nothing can be that rubbish. So it could be pants with the new service (over Openreach line presumably)
Can’t you switch to Virgin or another ‘non Openreach’ service?
My Virgin is 250/25 @ £24.25 a month

I've got a random FTTP provider called Lit Fibre. I get 100 up and down.

Currently have pretty much the most basic BT Inifinity deal and get 75/20.

Rural Ireland on Christmas Day, the in-laws were getting 442/48! In Edinburgh, consistent 350/40 as a minimum.

I'd be a heavy user and the upload would be important to me, for sure.

Vodafone FTTP.

Just shy of a gig down and 150 up. Works well

Try and find a FTTP ISP. I’m on CommunityFibre in SW6. 200Mbps up and down on their cheapest package.

The speed you were quoting looked suspiciously like you have an ADSL connection which has woeful upload speeds. The package you say you've bought quotes speeds that suggest you're taking up FTTC which as you can see from your quote provides significantly better upload speeds. Beyond that if you want greater upload you'd need one of the following if you can get them: FTTP, an alternative fibre infrastructure provider like Virgin, a 4G/5G provider (maybe less reliable and not guaranteed to be faster), Starlink (maybe less reliable and not guaranteed to be faster), maybe something esoteric like a WISP or a business class solution like a leased line (mega expensive)

Why not check for yourself what options are available to you?

This will advise on what openreach / BT options you have

I’m with Trooli and pay for 300/100. They offer up to 900/300 for residential customers and symmetrical for business.
