Gmail bin only goes back a few days

I thought the trash bin in Gmail was set for 30 days. I need to find an email in the bin but it only goes back to 20 Dec. I've never emptied it. I've had this issue before. Is it limited to so many emails? I have a Google subscription if that makes any difference (storage)

Are you on mobile?

I find the desktop (browser) version shows the full 30 days, but on mobile can be temperamental.

I use Thunderbird for various Gmail accounts; bin emptying is user configurable.
