Being a lazy so and so, I tend to keep a whole bunch of tabs open in Safari. Until this morning I was able to scroll across them by using the touchpad and sideways swipes with two fingers. Suddenly it stopped working! Later today Monterey was downloaded and installed, so I wonder if it was anything to do with that? I still can't use the gesture to navigate across tabs though - has anyone else encountered this and found a solution?

Try going into System Preferences and into Trackpad settings and see if the functions for the trackpad have changed. If you've installed a new OS it might have new features which have bumped existing features off their existing setting.

I've had a look in there but there's nothing obviously wrong that I can see. I must admit that I don't know if the settings have changed or not, as I've never checked in there before - it has always just worked!

OK, so just to round this off as best I can. It seems from various reports that some gestures intermittently stop working on Monterey. From what I've read this has been going on for a while and people are getting frustrated with Apple for not having fixed it. One solution that popped up was to stop the Dock process, with many people saying that it worked for them, so I've tried it and it worked for me too. Having a Windows background I find that I'm learning with Apple every day!
