The installer we had was planning to feed it through the front of the house.I asked for it to be fed down the side and directly into a utility cupboard in the kitchen diner.
He had a quick look, said it was a bit tight for him to access but would give it a go. He was a big lad! Anyway he managed it and did a very good and neat job.
Just ask the engineer who turns up, as long as it’s not unreasonable I’m sure most are accommodating.
Mine was fitted where I wanted it but in my case the fibre was run from the nearest pole which happened to be in a neighbouring property and they were out so the engineer wouldn’t go in without their permission so I had to get in touch with them to gain access. The pole was at the rear of my property and I wanted it terminated at the front so the fibre runs from the pole to the side of my house and then down the wall to the front.
Generally speaking the install will account for a certain length of fibre, for my provider it was 50m as it was coming off a pole.
If you have an underground duct they may refuse to run the cable around the outside of the building due to how easy it is to damage and may require trunking it etc which adds cost. Will very much depend on what the installer wants to do and how much flexibility they have from the supplier.

Is it fed from overhead?Ours is, and I asked for it to come in on the opposite side of the house to where the copper wiring is. No problem to do that.
I left them to it, only to find they'd drilled through the wall from the inside out (apparently they're told to do this) and had blown half the face of a brick off as the drill exited. Looks terrible. Annoyed with myself that I didn't drill the hole first - could have done it through a mortar joint and then filled it if it turned they couldn't use it.

Mine was the same, luckily I had moved my car or the section of brick would have gone through the rear window. Blunt drill bits and too much of a rush to do the job didn't help.Gassing Station | Computers, Gadgets & Stuff | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
