Galaxy S21 Ultra. Not modded/messed with.

5G signal on Three is absolutely crap, can't even browse the Web. Much worse inside buildings but still pants in most places outside barring big town centres. . Same locations were fine on 4G before the 'upgrade'

Can I force my phone to only use 4G instead?

Settings / Connections / Mobile Networks / Network mode / "LTE/3G/3G"

should do it. At least it does on my Galaxy A52.

Yes, it also bumps up the battery life as 5G uses more power.

I've done it on my phone as it's used for low data uses so doesn't matter if 5G or 4G.

I changed from o2 to EE for this reason.

o2 has patchy, intermittent 5g where I live and it wasn't unusual for my phone to throw a wobbly switching between 4g and 5g. In some spots, it would cycle no data, 2G, 3G, 4G etc. It was very frustrating. With EE, the phone is pretty much stuck on 5g all the time and the data is rock solid.
