I have a few hue wall switch modules dotted around the house. I think 8 in total. There is one switch location where the switch module just keeps losing connection. What's really strange is that I have swapped modules around in case I had a faulty unit and the problem persists in the same physical location but using a different switch. I've changed batteries and I even moved the hue bridge to a location much closer to the problem location and that made no difference. Seems bizarre. Could it be some sort of local interference issue?

How many hue items do you have connected to the single bridge? I seem to recall that they have a soft limit to the number of devices connected and recognisable on a single bridge.

Good question, cheers. I'm not at home but a quick head count is 8 wall modules and 7 hue bulbs. That said, the issue seems slightly intermittent which was what made me wonder about interference.

Could be something interferring with the signal. Try changing the Zigbee channel.

You need to have al the lights switched on when you do this.

Cheers. I’m giving it a try now.

Arrrrgh, still the same problem. It did initially work after I changed channel and then installed that wall module from scratch but 2 minutes later it had stopped working again. Driving me mad this one!

Is it far away from other hue devices? If you have a bulb spare try putting it in between the switch and the next nearest device. Zigbee should mesh, the hub/bridge doesn’t have to be that near as long as there is a chain the messages can be passed along.

It's actually pretty much directly under a hue bulb and not that far from another. I might try another channel again and then swap it with yet another module from another socket just in case I've done something daft. If it still doesn't work there, I think I'll accept defeat and blank that position off and create a new switch position somewhere convenient. Strange one!

I use Fibaro dimmer switch modules instead as I have found them much more reliable than the hue stuff.

You will need a hub in the middle, I use Smartthings.

I'm a Hue fanboi and most of my house is Hue but I've never considered using their switch modules! Here's a quite funny video why..........

To be honest, I think this review and several others completely miss an important reason why I (and presumably others) have opted for the wall modules. Basically because it allows you to retain traditional looking switches but have the full hue functionality. Our house was built in the 1800’s and modern white switches would just look completely wrong here. They’ve been great except this bloody one which is driving me nuts!

Cheers. Worth me bearing in mind, though I’m loath to take everything out and re-buy if I can avoid it.

Well I fixed this issue in the end by moving the switch about 6 foot to the otherside of the hallway. It must have been some sort of interference issue but has worked okay now for several months.

The reason I'm back is I have a new hue issue!

We have three bulbs that have developed a mind of their own. Often dimming or switching off randomly. Two are the only two lights in one zone. One is a light that is one of two lights in another zone, the other behaving fine.

I've tried changing the channel but that has not worked.

Could this be an Alexa issue or do I just have something faulty?

I like this system but it's testing my patience at times.

First check for any updates on the app. Then swap them around to see if the fault moves with the bulbs.
