HP Probook hard drive not recognised

My probook 6560b wont reconigse my hard drive. I had an issue with it crashing in windows so thought id just replace the hard drive with an ssd (256gb) and refresh windows and be done.
When it goes into windows setup it sticks at 0%. or says no drive regonised (ive tried it several times and get either one of these errors).
Im normally ok with setting laptops up but this has stumped me.
Any ideas please?

Have a look in the BIOS first and see if that recognises the drive is there at all. Could be the BIOS not the drive is too old and needs an update.

Ended up chucking it in the bin. I tried 3 different hard drives and only one was recognised in the bios. Tried loads of different settings. I think the machine was just old and past it.
