I know nothing of tablets, never had one before.. but feel i need to get one.

For context, I recently bought a laptop which turns out is faulty, so looking to return it for a refund. I don't plan on purchasing another laptop until Feb as I'll be on holiday at the end of this month for the month of jan. So I figure it might be best to buy myself a tablet to tide me over until I do buy a new laptop in Feb/march. After this i can just use the tablet as something to use around the house. I don't want to be splashing out loads on a tablet as this enters entry laptop territory, but likewise I don't want something that's absolutely awful to look at, and has a terrible, restrictive OS.
I don't want a chromebook as I'll be eventually be buying a laptop. apple? no thanks, hate them

No idea which ones are good, bad, features to consider etc..

Budget- £100-200 approx
Usage- web browsing, youtube watching, twitch watching. it would be highly beneficial if i could install adblocker to the browser
Screen size- I have no idea, at least 10"? a decent quality screen would be nice, I've no idea of tablet screen technologies but if OLED could be had that'd be great. I'll plan on getting a bracket so i can clip it onto my desk, bed, dinner table, kitchen worktop etc..
ResolutionI at least 1920x1080?
speakers- stereo speakers would be nice.. but it's not that important as if i need to i can use headphones. Happy to sacrifice this for another better feature, or for bettter value.
Sim card- not important. Usage will be in/around the house, running off wifi
SD card - yes, not essential, but would be benficial.
+ would be nice if it came with (or can purchase seperately) some kind of keyboard that fixes onto the tablet. but i figure i could always use USB On-The-Go and attach one of my wireless keyboards.

ideally something i can buy from amazon, argos, somewhere I can physically buy it, or have it ordered for next day.

As always when this question is raised on here at that budget it's the Lenovo M10 2nd Gen.

If you want to go slightly over your budget the new M10 and P11 plus will give you better screens and newer android.

And P11 Plus

- i noticed the gen3 is £30 more.. any reason not to buy that, as it's still within budget. I've looked at reviews of both and it seems to tick all boxes.
- are these capable of being connected to a monitor, and can it handle it? I have a lenovo 27" monitor that's 2560 x 1440@ 60hz. It'd be great to hook it up to that for youtube and twitch viewing.
- can i install an adblock to the browser?

Probably not they seem fairly evenly matched, although Gen3 is newer so guessing it should be better in the specs department and has a slightly better screen and updated OS.
I only have experience of the 2nd Gen.
You could go £30 over your £200 max and have a 2k screen as per the one I linked if that is a option.

In terms of outputting to a monitor I'm not sure as they don't have a hdmi, however you can get USB C to HDMI cables for less than a tenner that should allow you to output onto your monitor or mirror it if you plug a Chromecast into your monitor.
Google will help on how to do this if you have a look before buying.

For adblock I'm guessing you just install it as an app as it's the same as doing it on an android phone.
Some browsers like Firefox and Opera have built in adblock or you can install an add in that will do it for you.
I don't use one personally so not sure how well they work but sure someone else will be able to advise.

The good thing with the Lenovo is that they have a near enough vanilla android install so minimal bloatware to slow it down.
They are very quick.

I've had the Gen 2 version for a year.

No problems at all, still use it every day, no drop off in performance or battery power. Would buy another without hesitation.

I use it for browsing, shopping, youtube, spotify, whatsapp (viaweb as there's no sim) and a training app for my cycle trainer. Oh, and as an audio streaming device whilst around the house. The inbuilt speakers aren't hifi, but perfectly good for spoken word with plenty of volume as a portable radio.

Mine never goes out of the house and has replaced a conventional laptop.

Just run Brave browser on mine to block adds.

Other options will do the same.

I've had a number of tablets and I'd thoroughly recommend a Nokia T20

Unless you're doing anything really processor intensive I wouldn't get too hung up on spec, they are all pretty good now, but do buy a known make - generic £50 ebay bargains are to be avoided, don't ask me how I know.
As regards add blocking I use the Duckduckgo Web browser. It works well at blocking adds but doesn't allow you to synchronise your bookmarks across different devices.

thanks for all the responses.

question..

I have a samsung tv. my computer monitor is lenovo (i guess that doesnt matter much). are their any features on the lenovo ones comparable to samsung DeX? i figure it might be a useful feature for using the tablet attached to my monitor (so i can sort of use it like a desktop).

I've got the P11 and it's a great tablet. We've been very quiet in work so I've been watching a lot of Netflix etc on it. The battery lasts well and it's got a great screen.
I bought mine directly from Lenovo's website. Surprisingly at the time they were cheapest and it had next day delivery.
