I could do with a single charger that can charge a couple of phones at once and maybe even a laptop via USB C.

This looks decent.

Any thoughts as Anker make a LOT of chargers with a lot of overlap.

Also does anyone know of a decent pack of cables or USB C cable with multiple adaptors on the end rather than having to carry a USB A cable a B cable a C cable a B mini and so on.

Surely Anker or someone just sell a pack of assorted USB cables?!

That looks similar to the Anker one i've been using for a couple of years now.

Works absolutely fine.

I have this one. It has a figure of 8 mains lead so I buy a different mains lead depending where I go, eg, in EU I use a 2 pin mains to figure of 8 lead, saves having to use adapters.

It charges a phone and iPad or two phones at the same time as well as my Packtalk intercom and GoPro batteries. It's also got enough power to charge a laptop if needed.

I don't think you can get Y adapters for USB-C charging, but buy small cables and the whole lot fits in a small bag.

Thank you smile

I don't really travel overseas so the mains lead isn't an issue so for the sake of £3 is there anything significant between those two other than the 2 ports v 4 ports?

I have a HP EliteBook 840 G7 laptop and a Dell Latitude that claims to charge off a 45W USB C charger but I don't know if all 45W USB C chargers are equal.

Just got this one - it's a great price compared to RRP, but does all of the above for you, including a power hungry MacBook Pro

Thank you I went for the 735 and a couple of USB C cables as it looked a good deal.

Even if you aren't travelling internationally and don't need to use different types of plug, the figure 8 lead is still useful if you go somewhere where a free wall socket/multigang isn't easily accessible - it allows you a lot more flexibility in where you can place the charger and how far away from the plug your USB gear can ultimately be.

I've got the older version of this (which only had 1x USB-C, but 3x USB-A) and I think it's great: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Anker-Charger-4-Port-MacB...

.. only 3 quid more than the one you quoted earlier, well worth it IMO especially as you get the extra USB-A.

The higher model numbers support more power, through one port or in total, through multiple ports.

So the HP laptop either comes with a 45w or 65w charger.
https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c0668092

Depending on stewies laptop specs, the 543 at 45w max through a single USB port might not provide enough power. The 735 (65w through a single usb C port) or 737 (120W through a single usb C port) posted definitely will.

Personally, with 2 laptops to charge, assuming both get regular use, I would have gone for the 737, which will allow both laptops to draw a full charge. Can just plug them in, use one socket and forget about it. Having said that, the 735 will work as well, unless both laptops are maxed out for extended periods.

OK so I'm showing my stupidity now biggrin

If I connect my work phone to the Samsung charger it came with by the USB A to C cable it came with it says "Fast Charging" and charges in about 2 hours.

If I connect it to the new 735 via USB-C to USB-C it says the same and takes about 2 hours.

Presume this is exactly right as fast charge is a standard and as long as the charger meets it that's that there is no "even faster charge" just because the 735 is a more powerful charger?

The charge rate is limited by whichever unit in the chain has the lowest rating, so if the wall wart can provide the charge current needed, the phone will charge at its maximum capacity.

The anker you linked to is capable of providing far more current than the phone can use.

(Fast charge was anything but a standard but most companies have moved to USB-PD now which is reasonably standard)

Same with my A32. I have an Anker PD charger with 2 USB A and 1 USB C and it does not matter which port I use it takes roughly 2 hours to charge from flat.

Bet it will be the same 2 hours if you plug it into the USB A port of your 735 as well. Not sure what Samsung phone you have, but its more than likely your phone can't pull more that 22.5W the USB A port is rated for meaningful amounts of time.

Not sure if it was resolved, but tech blogs unearthed Samsung S21 / S22 phones not pulling the 45W they were rated for and said this 'fast charging feature' was meaningless as there was almost no difference in charge times over using Samsung's 25W charger. They stopped short of calling it an outright fraud because the phones did pull around 40W for a brief period, not enough to make more than a few minutes difference.

Maybe if you got your stop watch out, on your 735 USB C it might charge in 1h57m and on the 25W Samsung charger, 2h02m? Or something like that?
