Anyone use KeePass? Its a password manager thingy.

Ive got one on an iPhone as well as notes on the phone and written down passwords all over the shop. Could do with consolidating them all and having the same database for it available on iphone/ipad at the same time.

Presume Id need a cloud based storage somewhere and save the database for it there? Anyone done similar and could advise?

As the iPad stays at home I did wonder briefly if I could set up a kind of "cloud" at home so no web access needed but I guess then the password app wouldnt work on the iphone when out of the house.

Cheers all

I keep the password file on my Dropbox account, only problem is that now limits you to three installs so I occasionally have to download it to a fourth machine. I could just use my Gdrive or OneDrive and the the limit would go.

I use KeePass with the database on google drive, the clients on desktop & android seem to work fine with that.
That's the simplest I can think of without having multiple databases you have to keep in sync, or sharing a database from your home network via a NAS or something.

as above, I used dropbox for the devices I use it most, and copy the DB manually to any I use rarely. I never have multiple DBs.

Seconded. Web app, installs on PC too, central cloud DB, job done.

I've tended to shy away from central cloud DBs and use Keepass for really critical financial passwords and a file sync tool to move a keepass DB around for less critical passwords.

Yes Bitwarden, Lastpass etc have tried to design very robust infrastructure. They've also guaranteed themselves lots of highly motivated attackers.

I use keepass with Dropbox too.

Works great.

Phone (android)
Pc - windows

I use one hell of a complex password, just for keepass. My life is in it!

It does however support finger print access too. Saves a lot of hassle at a checkout using a rarely used card.

True, but you then have to manage multiple copies of the database & your file management & movement security is the weak point - I know I couldn't do it as well as Bitwarden does. Even the OP admits to writing passwords down.

Anything that makes using good passwords easy it to be encouraged & I find Bitwarden pretty easy to use - it's even great at auto-filling in credit card card details.

True. I hope I have fewer attackers to compensate.

Yes, as a recommendation to people who don't want a complicated life it is a good option.

I use paid for lastpass with paid for 2fa from a different vendor. I appreciate some agencies will still gain access if they want but everybody else will find it almost impossible. There's enough unprotected or poorly protected accounts to keep the hackers busy for some time.

You can host your own Bitwarden server, if you prefer - https://bitwarden.com/help/install-on-premise-linu...
