Hi
We have been on BT fttp for 2 years and used their digital voice handsets for home phone.
Moving to vodafone as its £10 a month cheaper.
Anyone had any luck getting the digital voice handsets working with the vodafone supplied router.
Should they link up by using the WPS button ? Are they DECT units ?
Changeover is in a few days but advice before would prove useful.
Mark.

I know this isn't part of the question but I did this and found Vodafone were truly awful, to the point they agreed to cancel the contract mid term so I could go to BT who were faultless.

If you go with Vodafone, hope they're better for you of course.

Vodafone aren't the quickest at sorting things out if there is a problem, but BT are just so expensive that it's not worth paying the extra for the one or two times a year that you might have an issue.

Problems 1 or 2 times a year!!!

I've been with BT since the Internet became available & suffered very few problems. 1 in the last 7 years.

I've used them for four years over two properties. The first time I had them, they somehow cancelled my order, which delayed my installation by a couple of weeks.

The connection once went slow in the first property, which was sorted out fairly quickly with an engineer fiddling in the green box at the end of the road.

It went slow once in the second property, and that took them nearly two weeks to sort out and they were a hassle to contact through the web chat service this time. I also had to plug my router into the test socket then wait 24 hours to see if it improved before they would do anything. It was eventually sorted out by an engineer fiddling with the green box again.

To be fair, I think that excluding the initial order cock up, the other problems were due to Openreach rather than Vodafone. One thing I do like about them is that they don't whack their fee up dramatically when you get the the end of your contract.

Well moved to fttp Vodafone went smoothly 2 days ago. I can confirm my thoughts that the BT voice handsets cannot be linked to the new Vodafone router. A traditional handset or new dect type however work fine.

I've noticed that an outgoing phone call that doesn't get answered still incurs a set up charge.
I've now got Vodafone to block outgoing calls.

Don't know if it's only fftp that this happens to, bit cheeky really !!

Nothing to add on your technical questions, but we got a killer deal switching to Vodafone recently, it was a good deal anyway, we then saved a bit more as I had a cheap sim only Vodafone contract, the promotion also included a free ‘tech pack’ - I think a 4K fire stick and an Alexa, and we also went through a UKHotDeals referral giftcloud link and got a £120 Amazon voucher too.

One of those deals where things kept stacking. Worth a Google to see if it’s still possible.
