Do reasonably-sized (not huge!) gaming chairs exist? Or are they all big?

I've got a GT Omega Racing one that isn't that huge but it's barely more expensive and vastly more comfortable than an Ikea chair I once bought.

If you look at secretlabs chairs, look at the omega instead of the titan. It's not huge but it's not small. It doesn't look out of place in my lounge. The omega is designed for fairly big people but I get the impression a lot of people buy the titan out of caution, particularly as there isn't much of a price difference.

I'm 5'10" 88kg and my thighs don't touch the side bolsters on the omega. And, the head rest will happily cope with taller people than me.

I have a Secretlab Omega too. Their website says I need a Titan because, as above, I'm 5' 10" and 88kg (although I suspect seems my pants weigh about five kilos because the scalpes insist I'm 93kg), but the Omega is perfect.

I don't use it for gaming; it's my 'office' chair, and is very comfortable for that.

I do both, office stuff, and gaming. Off to space when I've had enough of work ;-)

Good to hear I'm not alone in thinking it's plenty big enough for more than they allude to.

Damn comfortable chair. Best I've had.

Another one for Secretlab. It’s not unreasonably large, though it is more so than an office chair.

However, while not uncomfortable, the padding is firm. So it depends on whether you like that.

The problem is that you are looking for gaming chairs, so you will end up looking at bucket seat monstrosities.

Look for a decent office chair if you want something comfortable.

Gaming chairs are fashionable, because they look like racing seats for cars. Computer office chairs are for sitting in front of a computer.

They look like car seats because they are comfortable for long periods of time. That doesn't make them unsuitable as office chairs.

Office chairs are not the same as "operator's chairs" which are for helpdesk geeks. smile

It doesn't make them unsuitable.
But it doesn't mean you need side bolsters unless you've welded it to the floor in an earthquake zone and not falling out of your chair is paramount.

Maybe the next fad will be fighter seats in case the building becomes inverted.

Or office computer chairs are designed for people spending a long time in front of a computer.

I don't. I spend maybe two hours a week at a desk, and I use a gaming chair.

I suppose as it's only an hour or two I could use a barstool, but there you are.

I think the issue people have with "gamer chairs" is that if you want comfort, you can get much more for your money buying a proper office chair.

If you want aesthetics then you don't have much of a choice.

Most gamer chairs (Secretlab mostly excluded here) are built from the same frame from the same warehouse in China, just with different designs on top.

I don't really care what people buy as long as they are happy. Comfort is such an individual thing there is no one size fits all approach. It would be good to have a chair shop with a decent range of chairs you could try before committing.

Ikea do some good office chairs and you can usually test them out in-store (if you want to brave a trip to Ikea).

So are gaming chairs - considering gamers are famous for spending most of their day in front of a PC.

I've had a SecretLab Titan for a couple of years now and it's been brilliant - far more comfortable than the "proper" Herman Miller chairs we used to have in the office, and about a third of the price. If I had to crticise it I'd say the base is a little firm for my tastes, but it's kept its original shape still feels as solid as when I built it in lockdown. It doesn't take up too much additional floor space over my old Ikea job - it is much taller however which may be a factor depending on the size of room you have.

We've got operators chairs in the office, they seem to be designed to make sure you don't sit down for more than 10 minutes. After that your arse is numb, and your back hurts so you have to get up laugh.. They're fking awful! I'd take my gaming chair at home over an office/operators chair any day.

Luckily, I only go into the office once or twice a month.
