As above, I want to make the whole first page of a Word document an image but I can't get it to ignore the header space. how do I get around that?

Perhaps draw a text box to be the whole size of the page, remove the border and paste / insert the image into the text box?

If you double-click to open the header, it should open the "Header & Footer" tab in the ribbon. Tick the "Different First Page" option and you can adjust your front page without affecting the rest of your document.

Thanks, I tried that but even with the box ticked for the front page it just edited every page.

I just edited the front page and then went through the rest of the document to fix text/images which had moved. not ideal but it worked out in the end.

It's a bit frustrating, Word is still in beta testing, has been for the last 30 years or so. They will get it sorted soon, nearly finished, I'm sure, lol.

Ignoring sarky comments, you need to bring up the rulers then adjust those to the edges. There is still a little white line at the very top - can't find a way to get round that, suspect it is an enforced printer margin.

Try putting the image IN the header instead.

Don't forget to edit the text wrapping so that it goes in front or behind the text, rather than in-line.

When you come out of the Header & Footer it will make the picture look semi-transparent/faded...but this is just to show you that it's in the background/header, rather than the foreground/body! It will print/convert to PDF full colour.
