I want to have YouTube playing the same video on a tablet and a tv simultaneously.
I thought casting from the tablet would be the simplest method but once connected the video on the tablet stops playing.
Is there a way to get them to do what I want ?
Tablet is on android 11 and tv is Samsung au9000

This is expected behaviour, and really what you want wouldn't exactly work anyway. The device isn't broadcasting to the Chromecast like you might think, it just instructs the Chromecast to independently load the same thing. As a result there is no ongoing sync between the two. The device just gets progress and control events back from the Chromecast.

On an older tablet with an earlier version of Android it would work

Probably not what you want but I can have the same YouTube video playing on my TV and my tablet or phone by using the native YouTube app on the TV logged into my YouTube account.
If I then open the YouTube app on my phone whilst watching a video on the TV it asks if I want to link the two devices and shows the same video on both.

Works for me smile

Go to the Google Home app on your tablet, ‘cast my screen’ to your chrome cast, that starts the mirroring, open up YouTube on your tablet and play away.

That option doesn't come up for me

Once upon a time, I had a hudl tablet, which you could plug into a TV and get the same picture using an HDMI lead.

Progress, innit?

Isn't it called 'mirroring' this decade?

Since we've now got a smart TV which actually does what we want, I've not tried it, but ISTR my phone and TV can do this....
Google it for your phone/tablet and TV?

Looks like my tablet only does casting but I've found an app that does mirroring, it's full of ads but seems to work.
