Asking on behalf of my brother:-

Around last June he signed up for a free You Tube premium account for one month.

Unfortunately he forgot to cancel the subscription at the end of the month, so for the last three or four months 11.99 has been going out of his account.

He has contacted You Tube, but the trouble is he has forgotten the account he signed up with, and they say they can't do anything without these details.

He can remember a couple of accounts he uses but thinks there may be a third one he can't remember.

His bank say they can't do anything as it is not a direct debit or standing order, just a monthly charge.

Any advice appreciated smile

If the payment method was via debit card, tell the bank you've lost it.

Have YouTube not contacted him at all about the account - offers, order confirmation etc.?

Look for those emails and they will have been sent to the email address he signed up with. smile

By coincidence he contacted his bank this morning because his card was scammed for £30,00 by someone from abroad, so they are sending him a new card, but surely all the payments he has set up will just continue with the new card? Or am I mistaken?

Why doesnt he just look at the past few months bank statements from the accounts, unless i am missing something?

The bank statement isn’t going to provide his YouTube account details which YouTube claim they need. I would be astonished if they did (not doubting that’s what they said, doubting that is the most helpful they can be) but there we are.

I was assuming it was his bank account details they wanted. Apols!

A new card. They would stop as the card number has changed.

You can get Youtube Premium for around £2 a month. Google "Youtube Premium Beermoney" and look at the Reddit Post.

Their bank is fobbing them off
The banks have to allow you to cancel continuous payment authorities.
https://www.fca.org.uk/news/news-stories/continuou...
If they have taken a payments after it was first raised with the bank and they refused to cancel it these can be reclaimed.

Just search ‘youtube premium’ in each email account he has. He will find the welcome email.
