Black Friday 2022
Discussion
Not spotted a thread about this years offers (feel free to point me in the direction!)
Of course belts are no doubt being tightened…energy costs & inflation are reducing loose change, but what are you seeing as great value?
For a starter, I spotted that https://www.quadlockcase.co.uk are offering 30% off everything, which is a decent saving.
I fancy a cycle mount/case for my phone (might add a vent mount - should be less creaky than the one I use in the old Volvo!)….I see an imminent purchase occurring.
Other things we might be looking out for could be some AirTags (seem to list around £99 for 4) and maybe another Sonos-1 speaker. Not searched yet….
Feel free to pop bargain deals below!

OnePlus seem to be bouncing around with early Friday 'Black Friday' in to the weekend deals. Having said I would not touch another of their phones after my 7 Pro (my 3 was one of the best phones I even had) - that had a partial hardware failure a couple of Fridays back - looked on their site without expecting anything - 10 Pro 5G down from £799 to £599 (this Friday the deal is just down to £699).
(should note the reason I looked was because a number of friends have 8 Pros which work well and have none of the bugs of my 7 Pro).

future proof laptop for wifey - 16gb memory, reasonable speed processor, for doing Zoom and a few bits of office work and win11 capable.
Although not intensive - I do have some heavy excel automated macros that make her life easier so she doesnt have to use excel and screw things up.
I get the general feeling most of the black friday deals will be 'just off the boil' laptops

Future proof is a big requirement ;-)Although not intensive - I do have some heavy excel automated macros that make her life easier so she doesnt have to use excel and screw things up.

FWIW (probs not a lot - don't want to turn this into a "Mac v Windows" discussion), I am still rocking my 2014 Macbook Pro here. 8 years old.....
3 GHz Dual-Core Intel Core i7, 16GB Ram, 512GB SSD.
More than capable of the things you describe. Still instant-on when I open the lid. Every now & then I think I ought to consider replacing it....& I realise the price I'd have to pay, & remember that my one "just works".
Pricey beasts, but when you think it has happily lasted over 8 years now, with a lot of travelling about, it is great value really.....
Got MrsMikeIOW a newer Mac Air a couple of years ago - she loves it!

and i bet it was nowhere near £500 when you bought it. I'd still expect an 8 year old hi end 2k priced windows machine with that kind of spec to still be working and performing as well. Funnily enough the laptop im looking at has a CPU benchmark twice that of my 7 year old desktop which runs 5 screens and is switched on 24x7x365. That was very high spec when I bought it and still only cost a fraction of the mac.
I know windows too well,to give up on it and start supporting a new OS and setting it up to do what I want it to do behind the scenes. having said that she has the whole apple eco system along with my daughter, even i have an iPad.

I’m not convinced any windows unit will work well 8 years in, but maybe things have improved since I gave up on them.
I am sure an Air would be double that (or more) if £500 is the budget…..& I’m sure you will find something to suit. Heck, I got a relative a Chromebook, which has worked well for them for a few years now: it is horses for course!
