Talk to me about the Robo-Vacs? Worth getting?

I'm thinking of getting the missus one for Christmas. She's adamant she doesn't want one in the house (she read one of those possible fake Daily Mail stories about dog mess being spread all over the carpets. I don't know why she cares, we don't even have a bloody dog)

For those who've had them for a while, would you recommend them? Happy to stump up for the best version if it's necessary.
