Appreciate this might be a grey area for some however my little boy is 5 now and for various reasons, I'm finding myself getting more anxious about "What if..." and so debating getting him a watch that a) we can track via GPS and b) he can use to call us if need be. Had a look and there's a multitude of options ranging from £9.99 stuff to hundreds so really just looking for any recommendations sub £100 region.

Another thing that was brought up whilst in discussion with the wife are those little tracking key rings, granted not suited for the 5 year old as a watch with two way communication is preferred but how good are the key rings, ie range and such like? Again any thoughts on them even for putting on car keys, my bike, the 2 year old...

Cheers

iPhone user? I’d recommend an AirTag. You can likely keep it in a pocket of theirs. If they’re anything like my kids they won’t keep a watch on.

Thanks

Mainly for my 5 year old o no, he's not an i-phone user. One of his little friends has a watch, allows him to call select contacts and vice versa and also can be GPS tracked so that sounds like it could be a good option. He's obsessed with time too, unlike his mother and so maybe a bit of a win / win situation all round there. I believe it's a Spacetalk kids Smart watch.

As for the key rings, any thoughts on those as I see some for a few quid and others for quite a lot more. For the likes of putting on car keys and such like, what sort of range is expected? And again, any thoughts on what to buy or not to buy?

Cheers

We have transitioned from Vodafone GPS-trackers e.g. https://eshop.v.vodafone.com/uk/curve-gps-tracker (ok but pricey) via Google Maps location sharing (annoyingly intermittent) to Samsung Tags.

The Samsung Tags are the easiest to use so long and the location is pretty accurate. Other tag providers are available.
