Hi all,

My whole street have been disconnected from the internet from Sunday to Thursday, then it’s been 25/75 on/off since then. We’re all contacting our ISPs daily who seem to be getting told very little by BT OpenReach, other than there being some kind of electricity issue at the exchange and constantly shifting estimated fix dates (as far out as 14/11).

The ISPs seem to have very little power to either find out more or push for prioritisation of the issue.
Has anyone else been in this kind of situation? How did you get it resolved? Do we need to be going to ofcom or something?

Thanks

You have to keep on at the ISP and then follow their complaints procedures. I'm afraid this is the issue with BT Wholesale having a monopoly on the infrastructure, they will work with the ISPs but the ISPs have very little clout.

Yes ‘hey broadband’ were laying fibre cable in our road earlier this year, but as of just now when I checked, they are still not available to move to.

I’ve been experiencing exactly the same as the OP, it’s bad enough normally as I can’t get fibre in my street, but the last week has been terrible with frequent drop outs and hanging.

Thank goodness City fibre has just laid a fibre cable to the end of our street, can’t come soon enough.

Don’t worry when they privatise it, it will all be brilliant.

By the way I saw an old bill the other day, I used pay £11.99 to madasafish (remember them?). Now I pay nearly £30 quid a month for nothing that is demonstrably faster. Progress eh

A mate had this recently on his copper broadband, turned out the underground ducting where there was a joint section was flooding and water was getting in to the connection. BT came out and sorted the flooding and not had an issue since.
