Acer Aspire 3, Microsoft & S mode

Have recently purchased an Aspire Aspire 3 laptop.
Apparently hss Windows 10 on it.
I can't install the driver for my printer, a Canon Pixma MX475. Everytime I try to install the driver, either from dvd or download from Canon website it tells me I already have the ideal driver installed.
However I can't print anything and when I go to printers it informs me 'driver is unavailable'.
Then when I try to install it manually it says something about 'S mode', and if I disable this the world will end.
How the hell do I get my printer driver installed ?
