The laptop can see and connect to plenty of other WiFi networks.

Other devices can see and connect to my WiFi network.

My laptop simply cannot see the 2.4g or 5g networks.

What could I be missing?

Reboot router, reboot laptop, update wi-fi drivers from laptop manufacturer's site (rather than from Windows Update).

Yeah reboot the router as above.

Also check and maybe purge your list of 'known wireless networks'
