I had the same issue with a (renewed) Galaxy S20. It was exchanged for a replacement, under warranty.

I can't say I have had those issues with my s21u.

If you go to the galaxy store you can download an app called "expert raw" which is designed by Samsung for their phones, particularly their later models. It is very much similar to the existing camera app but it has more manual controls on it, so it's a bit less point and shoot than the standard app. Might be worth trying that first to see if its the app or the phone.

In a word No. My old S21U had the best camera setup I've used on any phone, the camera app never crashed, I even used it underwater without a cover with no issues. Providing the phone isn't rooted and Knox secured its might be a hardware issue. Take it back and get a refund.

Yes.

It's Samsung's App on a Samsung phone, it should never crash. So something must be up with phone, i.e. a hardware fault.

I tried it with a different camera app (Open Camera) and worked out that it wasn't the camera apps, but how/location of the data from the camera was being stored ie. when I accessed WhatsApp / Google Photos to share photos, the phone would crash. It also occurred when I used Waze.

It was a memory / storage issue, which manifested in the crashes, and ultimately the phone had a hardware fault.

Did you try and uninstall the broken camera app and then reinstalling it from the store/google play?
