So the time has come where I either stick or twist with my broadband supplier - Plusnet in this case.

They've offered a reasonable deal to stay with them.

The other day I was trying to watch the match on Amazon and it was pretty bad (though I don't know if that's because my dad uses my account too).

I did a speed test and was getting only about 25mbps when I should be getting 70. However, every other time I check I'm getting 60-70.

Am I basically correct in thinking that switching to another VDSL supplier won't really make any difference, as they use the same network (BT)?

I think I can explain the speed issue that night to everyone wanting to watch the match at the same time.

I've done a bit googling but haven't really found a conclusive answer.

Can't help with the VDSL question as I'm on Virgin Gig.

However, I also get random buffering/low resolution/disconnects when watching popular live events. First noticed it during Amazon's Premier League offering last Christmas, and also in some of the tennis coverage this year. Doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason as to which matches will have issues.

Thanks for the comment - interesting - kind of indicates that really these streaming things are hit and miss no matter how much bandwidth you have.

I have TalkTalk running at 70ish. The only streaming I ever have problems with is live football on Amazon. Everything else is rock solid. I think Amazon are still struggling to deliver so many simultaneous live feeds.

Thanks, seems that way. Weird thing is my dad has the same speed service and was watching the same stream as me with no issues, as was my mate, but mine was unwatchable

I had to turn to an, ahem, alternative stream to be able to watch the match in the end.

I also would have thought that 25 meg would be enough to easily support HD playback and maybe even 4k but when I used HD on the firestick it made no real difference.

Do a Speedtest with a wired connection if you can. Could well be wifi interference.
