BT demanded we replace the router with a Smart Hub 2 when we renewed our contract a week or so ago.
Lap top & TV connected OK as did 3 phones. We had a 'mare with son's PC but that seemed to be a PC/wireless TP link problem.
Now it's the Samsung C1810W printer. Won't connect by WPS. Go into the "Menu/Network" on the printer and I'll be honest, I have no idea what half of the options are but it used to connect to the old router set up easily enough.
Do I just give up and use a cable?

If its like mine it's a complete pain in the butt.

I ended up setting up ethernet and a fixed IP address as it refused to connect to WiFi, no matter what configuration I used.

Thanks for the confidence boost laugh

It worked great out of the box with the old router, but this one, no chance.
I'm not that clued up with a lot of stuff and after 4 hours, inc taking the printer to the router I was just about past myself last night.

I didn't want to replace the router but BT said I had to. This one looks no different to the old one.

Change the wifi details on the new router to match the wifi details on the old,

If you ever get bored you can then rename the ssid and password to something easier to remember and use those on every new router in the future.

Exactly what I do everytime I change router. Saves entering ssid and password on loads of existing devices.

Now why didn't I think of that!
Too late now as everything else is linked to the new router/name/key. Everything except the damn printer!

Sometimes you need to connect the printer to the laptop with a cable before setting up its wifi. My older HP's were like that.

The whole point of WPS is it's pretty much press a button on each device, and it works. There should be no configuration necessary.

I have never been able to make WPS work

Tempers fraying, won't even print hard wired to a USB socket now!
I have a print out from the printer about it's settings, is there anyone on here prepared to have a look and tell me where I'm going wrong, understanding that I'm old and not that computer literate, despite using them since 1989.
I'll photo the two pages and send them over.
Thanks

Brought the old router out - printer now working - letter to BT about the crap equipment and more so the continued cock ups in my account. It's like dealing with a scammer!
If the company I worked for were as bad as BT we'd never have had any work.

Insist your complaints etc are escalated to the Executive Team ... once you can get to this level things do get sorted fairly quickly.

FWIW .... +1 for giving the Samsung printer a static ip address

WPS is vastly out of date and insecure to use. It probably doesn't work because the router doesn't support it anymore.
